The Church Development Service (EED) The EED is an Association of the Protestant Churches in Germany and has been working with CANGO since 1987. Past projects have included work in animal husbandry, promoting women’s social and economic status, legal rights and integrated rural development. In order to enhance the impact of its work, the EED collaborates with other organizations like CANGO in joint ventures and is actively involved in agriculture, training, health care, legal rights and gender issues in China.

According to Konrad von Bonin, Executive Director off EED the organization continues to work with their international partners to overcome poverty. Poverty is not only characterized by physical deprivation. It prevails where there is a lack of respect for human dignity and where people are denied the right to participate in shaping their society. EED’s projects are about people and they remain concerned about the achievement of equal rights and adequate living conditions for all, irrespective of a person’s origins, religion or gender. The EED supports development projects within partner organizations in nearly every developing country in the world. They have supported CANGO in 15 projects and their support has reached 7 counties and prefectures in 4 provinces in China. A recent example is the “Women’s participation in integrated community development” project in Shangcheng, Henan.
